Daniel Eisermann (born 1966) is an expert on the analysis of regional conflicts and on a range of issues in the field of globalisation and sustainable development. He has published several books on International Relations. He also has a broad knowledge in the field of political systems and political parties.

He studied Political Science, Modern History and Constitutional Law at Bonn University. From 1992 to 2000, he worked as a research fellow at the Department of Political Science at the University of Bonn.

In his doctoral thesis, he focused on the history of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), foreign policy think tanks and the strategic debate in post-war Germany. His book Aussenpolitik und Strategiediskussion (Foreign Policy and Strategic Debate) was published in 1999.

Another major study emerged from a research project that was sponsored by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation. The book entitled Der lange Weg nach Dayton (The Long Road to Dayton) concentrates on the role of Western States and the multilateral diplomacy in the conflicts in former Yugoslavia in the 1990s. Assessing the reasons for the long lasting failure of international efforts, it offers a thorough analysis of the intricate negotiations on a conflict settlement in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In recent years, Daniel Eisermann worked as lecturer and scientific adviser in the field of development cooperation. Among other activities, he was the director of a series of Advanced Training Courses for government officials from the developing countries, financed by the German Federal Government. He also contributed to a number of conferences and events in the field of international cooperation.

In the scope of these activities and reflecting the UN World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in 2002, he published an introduction to the politics of sustainable development (Die Politik der nachhaltigen Entwicklung).

Daniel Eisermann is a member of different organizations including the DGAP. In 1991 he co-founded the Bosporus Gesellschaft which has since organised a large number of visits and exchange programmes for students from Turkey and different South East European countries.
